Greek pianist Vassilis Tsabropoulos in his first solo album, with a fascinating programme of adaptations of Byzantine hymns and improvisations inspired by this ancient material. The hymns here – played with great respect as well as a poetic freedom – are pieces traditionally sung during the Easter period in Orthodox churches.
